5 Days of Prayer & Fasting

As we begin a new year, we’re setting aside intentional time to seek God first.
SET APART is a 5-day journey of prayer and fasting as we realign our hearts, homes, church, and city to Him.

Whether this is your first time fasting or something you’ve done before, we invite you to participate at a level that is meaningful and sustainable for you.

“But seek first the kingdom of God…” — Matthew 6:33

FASTING OPTIONS

Choose one option—or a combination—that helps you focus more on God during these five days.
Please participate in a way that is healthy, prayerful, and sustainable for you.

Important Note:
Fasting looks different for everyone. If you have any medical conditions, are pregnant or nursing, are taking medication, or have health concerns, we strongly encourage you to consult with your doctor or healthcare professional before beginning a food-related fast.

If a food fast is not advisable for you, a social media or activity fast is a meaningful and powerful way to participate.

Fasting Options

  • Daniel Fast (fruits, vegetables, water)

  • One meal a day

  • Sunrise to sunset fast

  • Social media fast

The goal isn’t perfection—it’s devotion.

Metro Church encourages personal responsibility and wise decision-making when participating in fasting.

SET APART – 5 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Daily Prayer Guide

  • 📖 Romans 12:1

    Focus

Consecration is choosing to belong fully to God. Before we ask God to do something new, we first offer ourselves completely—our hearts, habits, schedules, and desires.

    Reflection

God isn’t looking for perfection; He’s looking for surrender. A living sacrifice is daily, intentional, and personal.

    Guided Prayer

    • Thank God for His mercy and grace.

    • Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything that needs to be surrendered.

    • Offer your body, mind, time, and decisions to God.

    • Ask God to align your desires with His will.

    Closing Prayer

Father, today I present myself to You.
I lay down my plans, my comfort, and my control.
Set me apart for Your purposes.
Renew my mind and shape my life to reflect Your will.
    I choose surrender over striving.
    In Jesus’ name, amen.

  • 📖 Psalm 51

    Focus

Renewal begins when we allow God to cleanse, restore, and refresh our hearts. This is a day to slow down and let God do inner work.

    Reflection

David didn’t ask God to change his circumstances—he asked God to change his heart. True renewal starts on the inside.

    Guided Prayer

    • Ask God to search your heart honestly.

    • Confess anything that has grown cold, distracted, or weary.

    • Pray for a clean heart and renewed joy.

    • Invite the Holy Spirit to restore passion for God’s presence.

    Closing Prayer

Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a right spirit within me.
Restore the joy of my salvation
and refresh my hunger for You.
Let my life reflect Your grace and truth.
    In Jesus’ name, amen.

  • Focus

God cares deeply about our homes. Today we pray for unity, healing, protection, and legacy in our families.

    Reflection

Faith is meant to be lived out at home. When households choose the Lord, generations are impacted.

    Guided Prayer

    • Pray for marriages to be strengthened and restored.

    • Lift up children, parents, and extended family members.

    • Ask God to heal broken relationships.

    • Declare that your home will serve the Lord.

    Closing Prayer

Lord, we dedicate our families to You.
Bring unity where there is division
and healing where there is pain.
    Strengthen marriages, protect children,
and establish godly legacy in our homes.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
    In Jesus’ name, amen.

  • 📖 Ephesians 4:11–16

    Focus

The church grows when every part is healthy and working together. Today we pray for spiritual leadership, unity, and maturity in Metro Church.

    Reflection

Healthy churches are built through prayer, love, and shared mission—not personality or programs.

    • Pray for pastors, leaders, and volunteers.

    • Ask God for unity, humility, and wisdom.

    • Pray for spiritual growth and maturity in the church.

    • Ask God to help Metro Church impact lives and the city.

God, thank You for Metro Church.
Strengthen our leaders with wisdom and grace.
Unite us in love and purpose.
Help us grow in maturity and faith,
so that we reflect Christ in all we do.
Use our church to bring hope to our city.
    In Jesus’ name, amen.

  • 📖 Matthew 28:19–20

    Focus

We are called to carry the gospel beyond ourselves—to our city and to the nations. Today we pray outwardly and missionally.

    Reflection

Prayer fuels mission. When we pray for our city, God positions us to be part of the answer.

    Guided Prayer

    • Pray for Jacksonville—every neighborhood and community.

    • Lift up schools, leaders, churches, and families.

    • Pray for the gospel to advance locally and globally.

    • Ask God how you can personally live on mission.

    Closing Prayer

Lord, we lift up our city and the nations to You.
Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done.
Use us to share Your love and truth.
Send us, shape us, and lead us
to be faithful witnesses wherever we go.
    God belongs in our city.
    In Jesus’ name, amen.
